ArtsEdge Program Description '97
Sunset at artsEdge June 20 & 21st on the solstice, and as the sky grows dark the International Fountain comes to life with dancers, amplified didgeridoo's and drummers against patterns projected onto the waters surface, mist. smoke and fabric. From the Space Needle above the view is truly a kaleidoscope below against the Centers grounds.
The entire water fountain becomes theater in the round while scripted hand painted images are projected via 20 projectors focused onto the fountains entire water surface. Multiple projections encircle the fountain while live music performed by a host of didgeridoo's, drummers and tribal trance band MerKaBa. Alana Cini in particular, known for her didergidoo work shall coordinate a special gathering of percussion musicians for this event.
Utilizing the fountains existing recessed lighting and programed water jets make it a truly ideal site of constantly dissolving hand-painted slides and original 16mm film loops, the spectacle is truly interactive lighting and auditory extravaganza in the round worthy of the Summer Solstice and the Seattle Center.

Performance was enhanced by the showers with Delilah's Visionary Dancers as water nymphs dancing in and around the fountain to MerKaBa live. The piece was a complete success for which the crew can take major KADO's! It rained hard straight through the entire evening.

Three separate parts of the last 30 minutes were broadcast live on Channel 11 News. The ClearCom system broke down so each station was operating independently. The rovers focused their projectors onto Delilah's Visionary Dancers in each of the four directions with the fountain base lights off. Each station relied on each other to meet on the "stage "(fountain) to mirror the opposite sides tempo.
